Albin Joseph Kucera, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed to a better life on December 30, 2017.
He was born on September 6, 1921 in Tours, Texas, graduated high school in West, Texas, before moving to Corpus Christi. He married Mary Polasek Kucera on May 27, 1947 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Together they raised six children and were members of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church for over 50 years. He was a member of various Czech Catholic societies centered around the Moravian Club and Sokol Club on Kostoryz Road. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Bill Roper American Legion Post No. 364, holding various positions, including district commander. He was employed by the City of Corpus Christi for 30 plus years, as a building inspector and permit supervisor; claiming responsibility for the address numbering system of the city’s streets. He played amateur baseball for the now defunct Kostoryz baseball team, and enjoyed polka dancing with his wife at the Moravian Club.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bernadette Polasek, his parents, Charles and Agnes Kucera, brothers, Charles (Charlie), William (Bill), Edward (Ed) and sisters, Henrietta Pavelka and Johana (Janie) Dlabaja.
He is survived by his daughters, Cecelia (Pete) Fox of Port Aransas, Margaret (Mark) Cooper of New Braunfels, sons, Philip (Joyce)Kucera of Rockport, Danny (Deborah) Kucera of Austin, Paul (Lael) Kucera of Alpine, Thomas Kucera (Nicki Sohn) of Corpus Christi, 11 grandchildren, and 6 and ½ great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3120 S. Padre Island Dr. Celebrant will be nephew Father Edward Kucera. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to be pallbearers are his grandchildren: Peter Fox, Chris Fox, Anthony Kucera, Nick Kucera, John Joyoprayinto and nephew Jim Kucera.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Services have been entrusted to Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
