Obituary

Alva Lee Bryan was born January 10,1931. Alva passed away April 19, 2024. He was born in Luling, Tx. In the early 1930s, Alva and his parents moved from Luling to Corpus Christi for a short period of time and then to Longview, Tx. There his younger brother Don was born in 1935. In the late 1930's the family moved to Beeville, Tx. Alva attended and graduated from A, C. Jones high school high school in 1948.

In 1950 he married Helen Aileen Harris from Mineral, Tx.  They soon moved to Sinton, Tx. where Alva started working for the Texas Highway Department.  From Sinton, they transferred to Corpus Christi, Alva continuing with the Highway Department, his career spanning over 20 years.  From the Highway Department, Alva started a second career with Beach Aerospace located at the Naval Air Station, where he retired in 1996. He also worked numerous second and third jobs in his early years. Alva's hobbies included fishing, tinkering around the house, yardwork and some mechanic work. In other words, he liked to fix things all his life. Alva and Helen had two children, Patricia Raye and Billy Jay. Unexpectedly, Helen passed away in 1967 at the early age of 34. Alva was also preceded in death by his parents Alva Jay Bryan, Annie Lee Wells, and brother Don Bryan

In 1976 Alva married Sue White who had three sons, David, Michael and husband Steve, Patrick, and his son Bailey.   Alva and Sue were married for 36 years before Sue passed away in 2012.

Alva is survived by daughter Patricia Bryan, son Billy & wife Beverly Bryan, step-sons David, Michael and husband Steve, Patrick and his son Bailey White. Grand children Misty Evans, Leah Calhoun, Zachary, Joshua, and Lendon Bryan. Great grand-children Hunter Bryan, Lyndi Bryan, Michael Sinnreich Helen Evans, Zandon Sinnreich, Clara Evans, Clint Evans, Bella Bryan, and Kaia Calhoun. Also survived by nephews Don Allen and Troy Davis Bryan.

Alva attended the Baptist church and was also a member of the Beeville Masonic Lodge number 261 AF & AM. In lieu of flowers, Alva has requested any donations go to: The South Texas Children's Home, P. O. Box 759, Beeville, TX 78102 or the charity of your choice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
