Betty Jo (Holbrook) Bookout, a long time resident of Corpus Christi, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas due to complications from a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on September 26, 1928 in Henrietta, Oklahoma.  Her family moved to Corpus Christi in 1944 when she was 16 years old. Betty was a community leader and businesswoman in Corpus Christi for several decades. She owned Unique Temporary Services along with numerous other small business ventures. She was involved with the Corpus Chamber of Commerce, Republic Women of Texas, and was a founding member of Yorktown Baptist Church. She volunteered her time with many local charities and organizations, of which she was passionate about. She was a warrior for Christ and a perfect example to her family of how to live a Christian life, putting God first in everything she did. She is survived by her son, Jeff Bookout of San Antonio. His wife Marla McKinney-Bookout and their three children. Ashley Bookout Farish, Hunter Bookout and Peyton Bookout along with Ashley's husband, Reagan Farish of San Antonio. In addition to her immediate family she had a multitude of extended family including several generations of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she dearly loved. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the caregivers at Autumn Grove Memory Care and to Heart to Heart Hospice.
