Welcome to the memorial page for

Calvin J. Findeisen

December 2, 1934 ~ July 11, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Calvin Joe Findeisen, age 82, lost his battle with cancer and died at his home on July, 11, 2017.
Calvin was born on December 2, 1934, in Lavaca County, TX, to Charles and Alma (Rippen) Findeisen. The fifth child of five, he was raised in Yoakum, TX, where he graduated from Yoakum High School in 1952. Calvin began work at the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi, TX in 1952.
On November 22, 1956, Calvin married Evelyn Clawson in Yoakum, TX. In 1957, shortly after their marriage, Calvin began service in the United States Army. He was stationed overseas in Germany, when Evelyn joined him, then moving stateside to Florida after his service ended in 1959. At that time, they relocated to Corpus Christi, TX, where they made their home together for over 60 years and raised their two sons. Calvin worked in the Civil Service sector at the Corpus Christi Army Depot for 37 ½ years until his retirement in 1988.
In 1963, Calvin and Evelyn joined St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi and have remained active members there for over 54 years. Calvin served in many leadership roles for the St. Mark’s congregation and remained a dedicated member of the Lutheran church throughout his adult life. Calvin was also a member of the Masonic OSO Naval Lodge of Corpus Christi.
In addition to being a talented woodworking craftsman, Calvin will especially be remembered for his dedication to family. Affectionately known as “Unkie” to three generations of nieces and nephews, he was never one to say no to a game of dominoes; “Moon”, “42” or “Straight”, Calvin would always be found around the domino table usually in the winning seat.
Preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers and two sisters, Calvin is survived by his wife, Evelyn; 2 sons: Michael Findeisen of Austin, TX, and David Findeisen of Alice, TX, as well as 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
