Carolyn Ann (Brubeck) Keim, age 81, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017 after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Ralph Brubeck, her sister Marajean Swartz, and her daughter Mary Thelma (Keim) Sandoval. Carolyn was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 21, 1935, just barely weighing 2 ½ pounds at birth. She eventually thrived as she spent her childhood growing up in Natalia, Texas. She graduated from Devine High School. Carolyn soon met George Charles Keim, an Instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in San Antonio. After a whirlwind courtship, on December 28, 1954, George, the dance instructor, and Carolyn the, “Better Dancer", were wed and began marriage that lasted nearly 63 years. The relationship saw them become parents of 7 children between 1955 and 1966. Husband George’s education and work experience as an Electronics Specialist and Radiation Physicist took him to different states and cities, 4 major moves in 11 years, finally settling down in Corpus Christi, Texas, where for the next 51 years, they would make their home, raise their family, and ultimately retire. Carolyn, despite the demands of raising 7 children, made it a point to become involved in volunteer activities at the various schools, the children attended: Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church/School, St. Joseph Jr. High School, and Mary Carroll High School. Carolyn then decided to get a paying job and went to work for the Naval Air Station (NAS) as a “Contract Procurement Specialist” and after 18 years, she finally did retire, achieving the grade of GS-11. Her many acquaintances and work associates remember her infectious smile, loyalty to her work, laughter and always, always positive attitude. Carolyn is survived by her husband George, six (6) children- Karen Spencer; Mark (Lisa) Keim; Kenneth (Kim) Keim; Katherine (Joe) Toups; Michael Keim; Michelle (Tom) Espy; Ten Grandchildren, and 4 Great- Grandchildren.
