Consuelo Rodriguez Baker passed away in her sleep peacefully on January 18, 2018.
Consuelo better known as “Connie” was born in Woodsboro, Texas on June 30, 1923 to Felicitas DeAses Rodriguez and Leandro Rodriguez, Sr. She lived a long and fruitful 94 ½ years of life.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and outlived seven siblings: two sisters and five brothers; her daughter, Joyce Deluna Meza of Houston, Texas, husband Chief Petty Officer W.S. Baker.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. As a widow of a Vietnam officer she was active at the VFW Post #2397 of the Ladies Auxiliary.
As a young entrepreneur at the age of 31 she opened up Connie’s Cafe on Baldwin St. and later Connie’s Place on Port Ave.
Connie is survived by one daughter, Mary Rose DeLuna Yanez (Dan), son, David Ray Baker, grandchildren, Lonnie, Danny Boy, Chris and Nicole Yanez, also Zeke, Joyce Jr and Philip Meza, twelve great- grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, January 22, 2018, followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
