Dora Irene Heslep passed away peacefully May 24, 2017 at the Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehab Center, where she had lived for several years. She was born in Ezzell, Texas on January 09, 1919. She was 98 years old.
Irene retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) in 1978, after 40 years as an operator (Engineering Network Services, official name).
Irene and her husband, Ambers, were married for 35 years before he preceded her in death in 1989. They lived most of their retirement years in Centerpoint, Texas. They traveled and enjoyed life to the fullest. They were faithful Methodist belonging to the United Methodist Church in Centerpoint. When they moved to Corpus Christi they started back to their beloved Southbluff Methodist Church till it closed.
Also preceding Irene in death were three brothers; Jack Munson, George P. Munson and Elroy Munson: Three sisters; Willie Mae Allison, Bernie Ponton and Mary Mitchon. In 1950 she lost twin infants at birth by a previous marriage.
Irene leaves behind a loving sister, Allyne Johnson, living here, many nieces and nephews for she was a great, great, great aunt and was loved so much by all.
Second only to the Lord, family and friends, she loved music and to dance. Irene was a member of Covenant Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Clara Driscoll Chapter, and Women’s Society of Christian Services.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 01, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 02, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
