Esperanza “Hope” Torres Briones, age 87, passed away September 21, 2017. She was born on July 16, 1930 to Bruno and Isabel Torres in Rio Hondo, Texas. She was raised in Rio Hondo, Texas and graduated from Rio Hondo High School in 1951. She married Reymundo Briones on December 1, 1951 until his death December 29, 1981.
 
Esperanza was employed by Dillard's for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends. Esperanza was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook but what was important to her is sharing the gift of laughter with those she knew.
 
Esperanza was preceded in death by her husband, Reymundo Galvan Briones, Emma Briones Morales (daughter) and Charles Edward Briones (son), her sisters: Maria Pruitt, Panchita Alaniz, Delfina Castro, Merceditas Torres and her brothers: Bruno Torres and Eddie Torres.
 
Esperanza is survived by children: Sheila Briones (Houston), Cynthia Briones Davila (Rufus) (San Antonio), Hilda Isabel Briones (Honolulu, Hawaii), Cathy Briones Arce, David Briones and Ray Briones; grandchildren: Norman Gonzalez, Aaron Gonzalez (Renee), Nick Gonzalez (Danielle), Eric Morales, Jonathan Morales, Andrew Briones, Larry Arce and Jared Arce; great grandchildren: Kai & Kash Gonzalez, Sivan & Aria Gonzalez, Ava, Lilly, Hassan, Helios, Wisteria Morningbird Morales, Neavae Morales and Kinsley Gonzalez and sisters: Felicita Gonzalez, Lupe Garza, Isabel Garza, Regina Chapa, Evangelina Torres, Olga Torres, Norma Torres-Martinez and brother: Enrique Torres.
 
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home, with a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
 
Pallbearers will be Norman Gonzalez, Aaron Gonzalez, Nicholas Gonzalez, Andrew Briones, Larry Arce and Jared Arce.
 
The family would like to thank caregivers Angie Lahrman, Molly Mendoza and Filo Ramirez for their undying devotion, love and care for our mother these past 5 years.
