Jeanette Lorraine Genoway (née Blackwelder) died unexpectedly on November 23, 2017 at the age of 59.
Jenny is survived by her parents Richard and Olivia Blackwelder; her husband, Steven Charles Genoway I; her four children, Sarah Jane Genoway Knabe (Dietrich), Steven Charles Genoway II (Stephanie), Christopher Daniel Genoway (Mandy) and Cassandra Olivia Adams (Patrick); her three grandchildren, Logan and Brennan Knabe and Sophia Genoway; her brother, Joseph Richard Blackwelder, and her sister, Olivia Ann Kuczynski, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her grandmother Micaela Reyes and grandfather Roy Blackwelder.
Jenny was born in El Paso, Texas on March 20, 1958 to Richard and Olivia Blackwelder. She grew up in Mexico, Spain, Germany, and the United States before graduating from Irvin High School in El Paso, Texas in 1976. She earned her bachelors in English and Spanish Education with a certification in Early Childhood Education from Corpus Christi State University in 1981 and earned her Master of Science Degree in Counseling from Corpus Christi State University in August 1993.
Jenny met Steve, her husband of 39 years, in Austin, Texas on the University of Texas practice fields during Labor Day weekend of 1976. They married in Austin on March 20, 1978 and welcomed their first of four children on March 14, 1980.
Jenny was a passionate teacher who enjoyed helping those in greatest need. During her almost 30 years working in education, she was an early childhood education teacher, a teacher of the seriously and multiply impaired, a secondary special education teacher, an inclusion facilitator and a special education counselor. In 2010, after overcoming breast cancer, she retired from Sinton ISD.
Jenny was a loving and patient wife, mother, and grandmother. She was strength for those she loved when they could not find strength within themselves.
Jenny loved reading, paint-by-number art, crocheting, and acting. She loved flowers, roses, sunflowers, peonies, babies breath, and anything that is beautiful. She had a special love for her children; she would say they are the best part about her.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1st at Seaside Reid Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Service will be held at Seaside Reid Chapel on Saturday December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service and interment at 11:30 a.m.. All are welcome to attend.
