Jeanette Langfeld Pella was born on May 11, 1926 in D’Hanis, Texas to Henry and Mattie Langfeld. She passed away from a short illness on November 1, 2017 at the age of 91 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Jeanette lived her childhood on the family farm in D’Hanis with her brother, Horace, and sister, Barbara Lee. She graduated from D’Hanis High School in 1943 and went on to attend Business College in San Antonio, Texas. Her one and only place of employment was at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church/ School where she worked for 56 years before retiring at age 88. Everyone loved to come to the office and talk with Ms. Pella. She was a shoulder to cry on and a good voice of reason. She was an inspiration to all.
Jeanette’s favorite pastimes for many years were playing bingo and visiting casinos in Las Vegas and Louisiana. She loved those slots! She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and truly enjoyed watching the Spurs and Astros.
Ms. Pella was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mattie, her sister, Barbara Lee, and her daughter Sandy Graham. Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Judy Wranosky and Janis Wilkey and son-in-law Miles Graham; her grandchildren, Tony Graham (Cathy), Michael Wranosky (Jessica), Stephanie Womack, Jennifer Keith (Jonathan), Matt Wranosky (Phoebe), Jared Wilkey (Janis) and Seth Wilkey (Cindy). The Pella household is a joyful place with 17 great-grandchildren: Austin, McKenzie, Zach, Samantha, David, Josiah, Daniel, Brianna, Elijah, Andrew, William, Owen, Hailey, Jude, Marina, Ethan and Makayla.
A Rosary will be recited at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery.
