Jewell Drucilla Hollis Andrews, dearly beloved mother of Barry, Judy and Trey passed away on May 19, 2017 at the age of 94. Jewell was born in Bowie, Texas, and moved to Electra, in 1923, with her family to their farm. Jewell attended the Harrold School from elementary through high school, graduating in 1940. She married Homer Andrews, Jr., in 1943 while he was in the service during World War II. They remained in Electra after the war and moved to Corpus Christi in 1953.
Jewell was member of Parkdale Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher always helping with Vacation Bible School. She was active in her children’s school as a room mother, Cub Scout Leader and Blue Bird Mother. When her children grew up, she went to work at Dillard’s from 1970-1982, and then Frost Brothers for Richard Eiseman Jewelry Store until Frost Brothers closed. Jewell then retired to work in her home and beautiful yard. One of her proudest moments was winning ’Yard of the Month’. She loved being with family and friends, reading, sewing, crocheting and quilt making and leaving many beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends to cherish. Her favorite color was pink. She loved her drives around Papalote Ranch. She loved the Lord.
Homer passed away on July 31, 2000 after 57 years of marriage. Jewell is also predeceased by parents, Fred and Mary Hollis, brothers Eugene and Floyd Hollis.
