Judy A. Smith was born August 27, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Victor F. and Agatha J. Simcik. She passed away on September 12, 2017 in Sugar Land, Texas due to complications of heart disease.
Judy graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi in 1966 and from Texas A & I University (Texas A & M, Kingsville) in 1970. She met her husband, Richard, in Corpus Christi and they were married on February 6, 1971. Judy and Richard have made their home in the Houston area since 1972. Judy was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her passions included gardening, especially annuals and host plants for butterflies. She nurtured many hundreds of Monarch and Black Swallow Tail butterflies through their life cycle. Judy also had great interest in researching her family's ancestry. She adored her grandsons and took every opportunity to enjoy them and maybe spoil them a bit. We now have a void, an emptiness, that cannot be filled and miss Judy dearly.
Judy is survived by her husband, Richard, daughter Kerry Asteris and her husband Paul, daughter Suzy Eide and her husband Scott, grandsons Damon Asteris, Connor Eide and Benjamin Eide, sisters Jeanette Bearden, Pat Bentley, Elaine Stallings and Beth Simcik, brother Victor Simcik, Jr., and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Geraldine Farrington.
Visitation will be at Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Corpus Christi on Friday, September 15 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Memorial services will be Saturday, September 16 at 1:30 PM, also at Seaside. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association are requested.
