Larry L. Clark of Corpus Christi, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017. He was born on August 18, 1947 in Fairfield, TX to Albert Olan and Bess Fulton Clark. He spent his first five years in Dew, TX until his family moved to Corpus Christi in 1952.
Larry grew up in Corpus Christi and worked in oil refining there for over 30 years. He was employed by Southwestern Refinery, Gulf States and retired from Valero Energy Company.
Larry was a strong and determined man who seldom found an obstacle that he could not overcome or a skill that he could not learn. He dove head first into every new interest by learning all he could. He had a vast array of interests and hobbies that included gardening, photography, gunsmithing, machine works, military history, ceramics, his motorcycle and refurbishing a 1951 Ford pickup.
Larry also applied the same determination and drive to defeat his many medical obstacles, including becoming patient #1059 when he received a heart transplant at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, TX in 2007. He loved all the many doctors and nurses that cared for him throughout the years and held them with the highest regard and honor. The family would like to thank all the medical staff who have provided their support. Our lives have been forever touched by your compassion and care.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria Bemis Clark, his two children, daughter Lori Clark Walker and husband Bill J. Walker, Jr. of Katy, TX, son Daryl D. Clark of Corpus Christi, two grandsons Jacob Clark and Zachary Clark both of Corpus Christi, sister Karen Clark Cover and husband Gary of Corpus Christi, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Seaside Memorial Funeral Home chapel.
