Lydia Lopez Gonzalez, 97, passed away on September 20, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, and her husband of 61 years, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Sr.
Born in Ramirez, Texas she was the daughter of Mucio and Vicenta Lopez. Lydia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a faithful Catholic with a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother. She loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her great sense of humor, for her wonderful family meals and for being a special friend to many. She fought the good fight and is now finally at peace and at home with God, our Father.
Lydia is survived by her four children: Rodolfo Gonzalez, Jr. (Belen), Alfredo Gonzalez (Irma), Oscar Gonzalez and Nelda Garcia (David), ten grandchildren: Anita Gonzalez, Dolores Gonzalez, Monica Spurgeon (Chad), Rudy Gonzalez, III., Cesar Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez, Alison Mackey (Alan), Cody Gonzalez, Jacob Garcia (Charlotte) and Victoria Garcia, three great grandchildren: Mia Garza, Natalie Mackey and Lucia Mackey, one sister: Isabel Navarro of Premont, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
