Marguerite G. Waldron

September 20, 1925 ~ November 17, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old
Mrs. Marguerite Waldron passed away on November 17, 2017. Born on September 20th, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. George Doey in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, Marguerite was raised on their tobacco farm in Cedar Springs, Ontario, Canada. Because she was a “farm kid,” she grew up loving all animals, especially dogs. and aspired to become more than just a “farmer’s wife.” She subsequently attended both the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, and Teacher’s College in London, Ontario, to become a teacher.

She and her husband of 68 years, John W. Waldron, were married on August 21, 1947. For the first five years of their marriage, she taught elementary school in Ajax, Ontario, Canada while supporting John’s studies in chemical engineering at the University of Toronto. John, Marguerite, and their two children, Janice and John D., moved to Portland, Texas in 1972, when John – a chemical engineer with the DuPont Company – was transferred to the Corpus Christi Chemical Plant.

Marguerite was a great lover of many diverse musical genres, including classical, baroque, Celtic, and Scottish pipe band musics; she also enjoyed playing piano and singing. As well, she inspired both her children to excel as musicians. Marguerite was a dedicated collector of fine Irish bone china, having been a member of the Belleek Collectors’ Society for many years. As an avid reader, her curiosity about the world never left her – she always had a book or a newspaper with her, closely following world news, politics, and culture. She enjoyed good conversation and spirited discussion with everyone she met. Marguerite’s sense of humour, tenacity, kindness, and wit never left her.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Janice Waldron, of Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, her son, Mr. John D. Waldron, of Austin, Texas, and her son-in-law Mr. Michael Martin, also of Amherstburg, Ontario. She leaves behind many good friends in Corpus Christi.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017, at First United Methodist Church.
