Maria Reyes was born December 23, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Juan Cantú and Consuelo Galan. She passed peacefully at home on January 3, 2018. She was the eldest of eight siblings, she being the only sister, Juan, Carlos, Gilbert, Robert, Rudy and David Cantú. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jose Cantú and granddaughter, Candace Reyes. She was a devoted wife to Emeterio Reyes for 66 years. She is a mother to Emmett (Olga) Reyes, Richard (Sonia) Reyes, Oscar (Nancy) Reyes and Homer (Vicky) Reyes. She has nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted servant of Jehovah for 66 years and her joy was studying and sharing the “Good News of God’s Kingdom” through her door to door witnessing work and conducting home Bible studies with interested ones. She was an example to her family displaying the fruitage of God’s spirit such as Love, Peace and Mildness.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A talk will be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. An Entombment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
