Alfred C. Garcia

Alfred “Al” Garcia passed away on October 9, 2021, 3 days shy of his 92nd Birthday. He was born on October 12, 1929 in Brackettville, Texas, where he was raised and graduated from Bracketville High School in 1949, being 1 of 6 in his class. He later moved with his family to Eagle Pass, Texas, and then shortly after to Corpus Christi, Texas. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean Conflict in 1951 where he was a telephone repairman. After that he attended A&M/A&I College station & Draughan’s Business College.

He worked civil service for 33 years, retiring in 1984 having worked immigration, fire fighter, accounting and supply manager for Servmart. He started a career in fine jewelry in 1974 with B. Bullock Jewelers and worked at Best Products Jewelry, Carlyle and Co. Jewelers, Gordons, Lloyd’s Jewelers, Whitehall, Regal and Treasures, Barry’s Jewelers as a Service Merchandise Jewelry Manager. In 1993 he opened AL’s Jewelers with his son, and did that on the weekends in Corpus Christi at the Trade Center. For the past 29 years, until 3 weeks before his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Garcia 1990, Cora Garcia 2007; brothers, Henry 2007 and Robert 2020 and his twin who died at birth.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Louise Garcia; his son, Aaron Goldstein; his sisters, Lily Boehm and Amelia (Domingo) Briseno and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Seaside Reid Chapel with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel pm Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. with an Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
