Amel George Sahadi passed away peacefully on February 3, 2019 at the age of 95 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 20, 1923 to George and Katherine Sahadi. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who loved unconditionally.
Amel was a graduate of Gregory High School and played on the 1937 Gregory football team. He served in World War II in the US Navy. After the war, Amel returned to Corpus Christi where he worked for the US Postal Service for 35 years. Amel was an avid hunter, fisherman, and rancher who truly enjoyed the outdoors. He is in the Fastpitch Hall of Fame and played 3rd base for various teams in the Corpus Christi area for many years. Amel continued his passion of softball by becoming an umpire and eventually Umpire in Chief.
Amel is preceded in death by his wife Delia of 56 years, daughters Judith Marie Sahadi and Georgette Chase, parents George and Katherine Sahadi, and sister Lola Getty. He is survived by Bubba Sahadi (Linda), Michael Sahadi, Abie Villarreal (Janelle), Cindy Cantu (Gilbert), Kathryn Marie Thompson (Craig), Omar Sahadi (Patricia), 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
