Anestacio S. Garza “Jerry” age 95, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2017. He was born in Charco, Goliad County, TX, on August 24, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eulogia S. Garza; five brothers and four sisters.
He meant the world to his family. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
He was known as “Jerry” to his neighbors, friends, and co-workers
    He was a World War II Army veteran with Headquarters Company 9th Army Infantry. He served and fought in Northern France, Rhineland, Germany, and Central Europe. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, and Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged after the war on November 4, 1945. He was a life member of the DAV Organization and had been a member of the American Legion.
   He collected cowboy hats, boots, belt buckles, and anything with horses and cowboys. He loved watching western movies and had a collection of several horse figurines. He enjoyed having garage sales at home. He built his own storage sheds and storage rooms from a mixture of materials out of whatever he had to work with. He wasn’t particular on how they looked, as long as they served their purpose. He would make small tables, step stools, and carts and paint them in different colors, adding rollers or wheels and handles on anything he could. He also made and placed shelves for the house and garage where needed.
   At times he could be very funny with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved them dearly. He always had snacks for them. He was a kindhearted, generous, and a giving man. He also loved and enjoyed his dogs, “Bear” and “Princess”, and took them for a daily walk.
He retired as the Executive Chef in 1987 from the Corpus Christi Country Club. He had exceptional culinary skills that he obtained throughout his career. He had been a member of the American Culinary Association. He had a well-rounded background in many of the finest restaurants, clubs and hotels, including The Mustang Club, Yacht Club, Town Club, Driscoll Hotel, White Plaza Hotel, and the Country Club in Harlingen, TX.
   Left behind to cherish many memories are his children: Robert L. Garza (Brunie), Ruby Tanguma (Joe), and Yolanda Gonzalez (Mando); Grandchildren, Rhonda G. Ramos, Regina G. Pena, Robert L. Garza Jr. (Elizabeth), Richard L. Garza (Raquel), Ruth G. Mora (Oscar), Joe Tanguma Jr. (Jenny), David A. Tanguma, Sarah T. Padilla (Steven), Rod Rodriguez (Veronica), Philip Rodriguez (Stephanie); Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great grandchild, one sister, Elia Montemayor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment, with Military honors, to follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
