Obituary

With broken hearts and tears in our eyes, on February 19, 2021, our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Arnold X. Medina, age 80, was called to Heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ, after a brief illness.

Arnold was born on August 14, 1940 to Marcelino G. Medina and Blanca T. Medina in Corpus Christi, Texas. Arnold was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from W.B. Ray High School, Texas A&I University in Kingsville with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, and Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. In addition, he was a member of many professional and social organizations in his community.

Arnold was an extraordinary and highly intelligent trial attorney, and was especially respected among his fellow lawyers in the Corpus Christi legal community. Prior to his law career, Arnold was a research technician at Celanese Corp. in Bishop, Texas.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life Martha C. Medina, and their infant son, Xavier Arnold Medina.

Arnold is survived by his three children, Arnie Medina (Crystal), Ursula Arrata (Robert), Bianca Medina-Rodriguez (Joel); his six grandchildren, Alexis Medina, Nicholas Medina, Maya Arrata, Joseph Arrata, Benjamin Arrata, Viviana Rodriguez; and his six siblings, Sylvia McGee (John), Roland Medina, David M. Medina, Blanche Flores (Romeo), Irene J. Medina, and Dr. Norma J. Medina.

Arnold will always be remembered for his brilliance, quick wit, sense of humor, and generosity. He instilled in his family the importance of education, compassion, love, laughter and of upmost importance the strong devotion to family. Arnold would light up every room with his larger than life personality and magnetic charm. He will be forever missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

Arnold may be gone from us, but in a letter directed to his family found after his death, he wrote “I have had a very rich, happy and fulfilling life as a result of all of you and the grandkids, all who I love deeply. When I am gone, don’t cry. I have had a good long life, both personally and professionally. I love all of my kids and grandkids and hope you live a good life, which is all we can ever expect.”

A public funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas with the interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Per Arnold’s request, in lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Blessed Sacrament Convent at 4105 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411, in both his and Martha C. Medina’s memory.
