TJ and family. My heartfelt condolences to you all. I did not even know ur mom had passed. I remember her laughter and such joy in her voice talking about her family. She kept saying how lucky she was to have such a fun loving family. The light in her eyes every time she mentioned her son or daughter and most of all the love of her life. Her husband. Just know that she is looking down on you all and smiling. It's going to be hard but know with the help of family and friends, we will get you all thru the difficult times. May your mom Rest In Peace.

Dear sweet Barb, a capable, strong and loving co-worker and friend. We laughed an awful lot Barb, you did some amazing work. at TOSA, helped me pletny through some muddy waters. I will always appreciate your kindness and generous heart. Condolences to the entire family, whom she spoke so dearly of, especially those grandbabies . Rest in Peace Barb, you have earned it.

Mrs Appleby was my typing teacher over 30 years ago at Incarnate Word. To this day I describe that as the single most useful course I have ever taken in my life. Thanks Mrs Appleby. And I will ALWAYS put two spaces after a period.

Tommy, TJ, and Jenny--I am still in shock. Barbara was a dear friend to me. As you know, we met at IWA, and then our friendship was solidified through Rachel's and Jenny's friendship. Barbara gave me a baby shower for Leah, and I always treasured her kindness. We could talk about anything, and she always had time for me, as I did for her. I remember the many times that we were together, and I thought of her as a sister (yes, we bonded over our only child status). I am so sad and feel so empty. As I told TJ, I was forty years old when my mother passed away, and I have felt that empty place in my life for 22 years. I also now have another empty place because of Barbara's passing. When I moved to Denton 29 years ago, your mom gave me a needlepoint hanging that states "Friends have a special place in our hearts." I still have that hanging in my bathroom, look at it every day, and think of Barbara. I always will. God bless all of you. I will make a donation to IWA in her honor as that is where we met and worked together for many years. I am just devastated. I wish that I could be at the service, but I will be sure to have Barbara remembered at my church.

Barb worked hard for a great cause at TOSA for several years. She made a big impact on the people there and took care of us. She always talked about her family and anyone could tell that that was her priority and joy in her life. She will be missed.
Rest In Peace Barb.

I am saddened to hear of the death of my dear friend, Barbara Appleby. Barbara has been my friend for about forty years and I have such good memories of knowing Barbara all those years. We first met as neighbors on Vaky Street where she, our other neighbor Janice, and I , along with other friends, sometimes solved not only our problems, but the problems of the world over a cup of coffee while the kids played! We formed a bond there that has lasted over the years.
Barbara later moved across town and then to San Antonio and our friendship continued via email, phone or an occasional visit... over a cup of coffee! The wonderful thing was that we always "took up" where we "left off." That is true friendship...no pretense, just "being us.."
Over these years, Barbara has worn many hats......among them were wife, mother , mother -in--law, grandmother and teacher. I suspect those were the ones she was proudest of......she always spoke of her family in loving terms and was so proud of their accomplishments.......To those of us who were fortunate to be her friend, she was kind, caring and fun to be around as she had a quick wit....
Barbara was a woman of faith.....she knew how to love and show love and that is what we are told to do in the greatest commandment......to love God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind, and to Love your neighbor as yourself. Barbara did that and I truly believe she is experiencing the joy that heaven brings. It is my hope that Tommy, T.J, Jenny and their families experience the love and comfort of family and friends as they transition to life without Barbara.
Love and prayers,
Mary Ann Shaw

DEATH BE NOT PROUD - John Donne
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
