Obituary

Barbara Passmore Cline, age 91, passed away December 21, 2018. She was born February 13, 1927 to Herbert J. & G. Allene Passmore in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Barbara Cline, known to all her family as “Granny” attended Texas Women’s University. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Cline, & lived in Corpus Christi raising three wonderful girls Cynthia Louise Meyers, Catherine Marie Cline & Carol Susan Lee. “Bob” & Barbara loved outings & nature. They were both active Girl Scouting, Barbara was involved from 1954-1980 receiving her 25 year pin. She & Bob received the “Thanks Badge”, the highest honor given for service. Barbara also served as Treasurer for Girl Scout Paisano Council. After Bob’s unexpected death at the age of 50, Barbara with courage, decided to take a new direction. A local politician requested her help in a local political race & she gave it 100 percent. As a result, she devoted 50 years as a truly committed & dedicated politician. Barbara was the first female Nueces County Democratic Party Chair, served on the State Ethics Committee, past Treasurer & Parliamentarian of Coastal Democratic Bend Texas Woman, past Treasurer of Texas Nueces County Democratic Party & she was the longest serving precinct chair with more than 3 decades of service. She was instrumental in forming first Texas Democratic Women Organization in Nueces County, past Executive Director & past Election Administer. For over 20 years she has arranged & executed bus & hotel arrangements to the State Democratic Convention up to & including this year’s 2018 trip. The report is “ she was dynamite on that bus trip”.
Granny loved being with her children & family. She loved her favorite TV shows, Matlock, Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote, channel 6 news & Hallmark. She loved to work crossword puzzles, read, most of all “Granddog” Annie & cherished time dog sitting. She was among the first to have & use a home computer. She was always abreast of new educational developments in the world, politics & continue to educate herself by reading, listening & being engaged in daily phone discussions on worldly events & happenings. Barbara was blessed with good health & had the independence of living on her own until she was hospitalized.
Just before her death, & the last election, you could find granny staying up until the early morning hours studying the precinct voters, the demographics & the results of the election. In fact, she was on her way to give a speech at a political meeting the day before she was hospitalized for pneumonia.
She will be remembered for her intelligence, wisdom, & her love but most of all an impeccable era of “integrity.”
Barbara Cline is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Robert Lee Cline. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Louise Meyers, father, Herbert J. Passmore, mother, G. Allene Howell & sister, Frances Hartman
Barbara Cline is survived by, daughters, Catherine Marie Cline & Carol Susan (Susie) Lee (Michael), Six Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren & 1 Great Great Grandchild .
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 27 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
