Basilio Lerma, age 87, passed away January 2, 2018. He was born on July 23, 1930 to Jose and Luisa Lerma in Orange Grove, Texas. He was raised in Banquete, Texas.

He married his wife of 61 years on July 12, 1949. Basilio was a retired farmer. Basilio was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather.

He will always be remembered for his love for his children, love of laughter and love of the accordion and music.

Basilio is preceded in death by his wife Maria Lerma; parents, Jose and Luisa Lerma; brothers, Simon Lerma and Joe Lerma.

Basilio is survived by his 9 children; Josie Lopez, Juan Lerma (Gloria), Hilda Figueroa (Tony), Norma Martinez (Domingo), Luisa Espinosa, Guadalupe Mesa (Mario), Patsy Leal, Dalia Enriquez (Rocky), Elena Naranjo (Danny); 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5pm-9pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be, Jesse Avila, Johnathan Espinosa, John Avila Jr., Mario Mesa Jr., William Rodriguez, David Guana III.
