Betty DeLoach

February 20, 1927 ~ August 5, 2020 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Obituary

Betty Sue Campbell DeLoach went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 5, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born in Laredo, Texas on February 20, 1927.

Betty was a lifelong Corpus Christi resident, and attended Corpus Christi High School. She happily attended many reunions with the Class of 1944 Buccaneers. She met and married a Navy man, James H. DeLoach, and had five children. She retired after working many years as a Switchboard Operator in the Information Booth at the Nueces County Courthouse.
Betty dearly loved Jesus, her family and her dog Patsy. She was a Christian and over the years a member of Gardendale Baptist Church, Caribbean Baptist Church, Waldron Road Baptist Church and Brighton Park Baptist Church. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you because He trusts you.” The Serenity Prayer was her daily prayer and her motto was “One day at a time.”

Betty was outgoing and never met a stranger. Patient, kind, and a loyal friend to all, she was a joy to be around and truly lived life to its fullest. She liked going to garage sales and flea markets. She enjoyed Elvis Presley, Betty Boop, George Strait, singing and dancing especially the jitter bug and the chicken dance with her grandkids. Betty liked playing bridge, crossword puzzles, traveling, swimming at midnight and holding and spoiling all babies.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband James H. DeLoach; parents Edwin Earl and Lucille Campbell; brothers Edwin Stafford Campbell and Pat Cash Campbell and sister Mary Jane Campbell. Betty is survived by her children Linda (Butch) Atkins of Silver Creek, GA, Becky (Don) Johnson of Jackson, MS, Jerry (Diane) DeLoach of Colmesneil, TX, Jamie (Dane) Roth of Sandia, TX and Cindy (Bill) Moore of Mathis, TX; fourteen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and sister Aileen Campbell Smith of Houston, TX.

Betty had a great sense of humor that did not fade with age. Her family and many friends hold her deep within their hearts. She will be greatly missed. She is gone but never forgotten. Until we meet again, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

A Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Seaside Reid Chapel. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. that same day. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
