Charles P “Chuck” Flanigan passed from this life on June 6, 2017. Chuck was born on April 28, 1936 to Thomas P. and Gladys Flanigan. Growing up in south Beloit, Illinois and graduating from South Beloit High School, Chuck served in the United States Army as an Anti-Aircraft Guided Missile Specialist. After service, chuck attended Dunwoody Institute and enjoyed his career as a draftsman and machine designer. Following his retirement, Chuck kept occupied as an apprentice bookseller. Chuck was active in scouting and enjoyed nature, fishing and birdwatching. He particularly enjoyed reading, wood working and spending time with his granddaughters. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Mary Kaderly and Thomas Flanigan. Chuck is survived by Barbara his wife of 60 years; daughter Kelly; son: Patrick; daughter-in-law Rebecca; granddaughters: Christina, Regina, Laurel Ann, Megan, and Nicole; sister: Patricia (Doug) Mahlum; brother: Kenneth (Kay) Flanigan; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Memorial Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Seaside Funeral Home Reid Chapel.
