Daniel B. Funk, age 74, passed away June 11, 2021 in Corpus Christi. He was born in Kingwood, WV to Walter and Edith Funk. He graduated from Kingwood High School in 1964. Upon joining the U.S. Army after high school, he served multiple deployments around the world, including Germany and Washington, D.C., retiring after 20 years of patriotic duty as Master Sergeant. Dan began a second career as a computer specialist for the Corpus Christi Army Depot, retiring in 2006. He met the love of his life Barbara Goodwin and were married in 1999. For more than 20 years, Dan and Barbara enjoyed traveling the globe, cruising oceans and rivers, north and south, east and west, and only recently lowering sails due to Dan’s illness. Dan was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. Dan enjoyed golf, traveling and fishing. He was generous and caring and liked spending time with family.
Dan is survived by his wife Barbara who will cherish his memory and the grin on his face the many times she returned home to find he had dinner on the table. Dan did like to cook! Missing Dan will be his sons David Funk (Corpus Christi), Dr. Daniel Funk (Kara) (Tucson), Douglas Funk (Michal) (Corpus Christi), stepson Brian Trube (Monica) (Corpus Christi), his brother John Funk, his sister Peggy Newcome, and grandchildren Kate, Noah, Nathan, Luke, Madelyn, Kaeli and Connor.
