Obituary

David A. Garza, the most wonderful man you could have ever met, passed away at the age of 67, in San Antonio, TX on May 23rd, 2023. He was born on June 20th, 1955 in Corpus Christi, TX. David was raised in Corpus Christi, TX where he eventually enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Specialist (E-4) until he was discharged in 1978.

David found the love of his life and married his wife Cynthia M. Garza on December 10th, 2011 and got to spend 11 amazing years as soul mates. David loved spending his days with his wife talking about growing old together, taking trips with their grandchildren, and watching their “shows” together. David retired from DOD-Corpus Christi Army Depot after 35 years of service.

David was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family barbecuing and vacationing with his wife. He especially loved being a grandfather and his Dallas Cowboys.

David will always be remembered for his goofiness and making people laugh, sense of adventure, helping others, and the unconditional love he showed his family.

David is preceded in death by his stepfather Cruz Chapa Sr., his mother Maria E. Chapa, 3 brothers; Cruz Chapa Jr, Roel Chapa, Rolando M. Chapa, and grandson Daniel Garza.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Cynthia M. Garza; 3 sisters Erma(Felix), Rosie(Nick), and Norma; 8 children Vanessa(Ramiro), Annette(Aaron), Stephen(Detra), Elizabeth(Julian), Lori(Ernesto), David(Jessica), Debbie(Randy), and Manuel; 20 grandchildren Gabrielle, Madelyn, Victoria, Corey, Derek, Amelia, Isabel, Iviana, Ernesto III, Nicholas, Robert, David, Daniel(deceased), Ali, Norma, Zuri, Zaide, Randy Jr, Ryan, Rylee.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on May 31st, 2023 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary service will be held at 7:00pm that same evening, followed by 5 speakers to memorialize David.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on June 1st 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. A small reception will be held South Lake Ranch.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Stephen Perez, Aaron Martinez, Justin Trevino, Jason Trevino, Abel Cantu, and Roberto Ramirez
