David P. Perez, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Delia Perez, two children, Saul and Laura Perez, and one grandchild, Benjamin Isaac Tobon. He is also survived by his sisters Connie Garza, Irma Ramos (Ramiro), Elisa Pena (David), Diana Adame (Reynaldo), Graciela Marquez, and one brother, Santiago Perez, Jr. (Sylvia). He was preceded in death by his son David G. Perez, his parents, Santiago and Carolina Perez, his brother Arturo Perez and sister Herlinda Ortega.
David was an Army Vietnam Era Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. David was employed during the last portion of his career as an Aircraft Mechanic and was deployed to Afghanistan for the last several years. His work ethic and devotion to his country and family was displayed by his commitment to continue being employed in a demilitarized zone.
He had great love and respect for his family. He demonstrated this love in his actions and legacy of faith. David did not waver in his faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, even throughout the last year of his life as he underwent cancer treatment.
One of David’s greatest joys was spending time with his family, especially his grandson Benjamin. He loved fishing and paddling his kayak in the Corpus Christi Bay. He could be depended on in any situation and willing to give a helping hand; he lived his life with integrity and was loyal and true to those he knew.
