Dessie Clorine Johnson

Dessie Clorine Terrell, age 96, passed away on April 9, 2022. She was born on April 10, 1925 to George Carl Terrell Sr. and Emma Dessie Idella Boles Terrell in San Antonio, Texas.

She was raised in Boerne and Alice, Texas. She received a GED then continued her education at Del Mar College and Victoria College, getting a teaching credincials in Port Lavaca. She taught private kinder and first grade and later taught teachers preschool children in her home in Corpus Christi. She retired teaching to travel and spend time at their hill country home with her husband until his passing in 2004. She helped in serving meals to those in need at various churches in Corpus Christi. Dessie Boots married Perry S. Johnson, Jr. of 62 years on July 8, 1942.

She was a life member of PTA. Boots enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and teaching children.

She was a longtime member of Beta Segma Phi.

Boots is preceded in death by her husband; mother, father and 6 brothers.

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Sandra C. (Bill) White of Lago Vista, TX, Phyllis A. (Steve) Jackson of Helotes, TX, eight grandchildren, C. Lynn (Deborah) Duderstadt, Perry S. Duderstadt., Keith A. (Suzanne) Duderstadt, Tara S-A (Benjamin) Smith, Glen W. Jackson, Phillip R. (Heather) Jackson, Bryan A. Simmer and Morgan B. Jackson and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jackie L. Terrell and 4 sisters, Joyce Whitfield, Pat Banker, Carlyn Mcwhorter and Darlyn Baugh.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with an Interment to follow at Alice Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are her six grandsons.
