November 25, 1922 ~ February 3, 2024 (age 101) 101 Years Old
Be the first to offer your condolences on Dorothy's Tribute Wall
Dorothy Louise Taylor Ramella was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 25, 1922. She passed away peacefully in her home in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 3, 2024 at the impressive age of 101.
She was a proud Navy wife, devoted mother and homemaker, talented seamstress and artist, avid gardener, Christ follower, prayer warrior, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
For decades she held many offices in the historical societies of The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and is a descendant of a knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and of the Plantagenet Kings of England.
As a proud centenarian member of the Greatest Generation, she personally witnessed the many extraordinary changes in our world before and after WWII. She loved to dance with her husband to the music of the Big Band Era. She experienced the progression from strictly radio entertainment to black and white television, silent films to surround sound IMAX, the first manned space flight, the invention of radar, sunglasses, blenders, electric razors, computers, cell phones, and so many more too numerous to mention.
Over her long lifetime, she was a source of wisdom and guidance for those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, LCDR Albert Joseph Ramella, her daughter Polly Anne Ramella Colyar, and her sister Elvira Taylor Schaff. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Anne Ramella Massengill, her "Angel" grandchildren Jason, Brian, Brittany, and Kevin and her great-granddaughters Allyson, Elizabeth, Nola, Evelyn, and Avery.
Services will be held at City Church, 4425 South Staples, CC, TX 78411, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Houston at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery on Friday, February 9 at 2:00 PM.
