Dudley Fred Bluhm, Sr., age 73, passed away September 28, 2017. He was born on September 11, 1944 to Julius M. and Pauline H. Bluhm in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1962. He was a graduate of Del Mar College, Texas Christian University, and Eastern New Mexico University. He married his wife of 53 years on August 19, 1964. Dudley was employed as a school choral director from 1968-1978, then changed careers and worked for Sechrist-Hall Company from 1978 until his death. He spent many years serving as a choir director for First Christian Church in Corpus Christi. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Dudley enjoyed participation in church music, fishing, traveling, whale watching and bird watching. He will always be remembered for his love of laughter and devotion to his family. He was instrumental in bringing the Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival to First Christian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Dudley is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Roy and Margaret Hanson, brother, Wilton M. Bluhm, sister-in-law, Evelyn Bluhm, and beloved brother-in-law, Leon Whitley, Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Mary, son Dudley Jr., daughter Holly Sellers, granddaughters Brittany Sellers (Jeffrey Ward) and Kristin Sellers, great-granddaughter Elaine B. Ward, and great-grandson Archer J. Knox, sisters Wanda Faurie (Leslie) and Darnelle Robbins, sister-in-law Susan Whitley and nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and beloved pets. Special thanks to Mark Dodson, M.D. for always being there when we needed him and to Caitlin B. Smith, a special friend who provided the most wonderful care to him during his last weeks of life.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at First Christian Church at 3401 Santa Fe St. Corpus Christi, Texas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice or Peewee’s Pet Adoption in Corpus Christi.
