Obituary

Dura Rucker departed this life on September 1, 2020, at the age of 95 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Dura was born in San Augustine, Texas to Almon and Mamie Bobbitt, she was the youngest and last survivor of 10 children. Dura was nicknamed “Dolly” by her father at a young age.
In the early 1940’s Dolly moved to Houston, Texas and in 1945 married David Hunt Rucker, a young soldier who had just returned from serving our country in the Air Corp in WW ll. They had two children, Michael Howard Rucker, wife Pat of Louisville, Ky. and Karen Elizabeth Kane, husband Harold of Corpus Christi, Texas. They were blessed with six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. David and Dolly were married for 62 years before David’s passing in 2009. Dolly resided in Corpus Christi for the last ten years and was lovingly cared for.
Dolly was a great friend to many and was always happy to help care for others.  She especially enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society and at St. Joseph Hospital. She loved nature and grew beautiful azaleas. She especially loved the Holidays and friends and family are left with many beautiful memories of times spent with her.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15 at Houston National Cemetery.
