Obituary

Earl “Cal” Webster Calhoun, age 84, of Corpus Christi TX, passed away on September 19, 2023, at his residence in San Antonio, TX. He was born on April 12, 1939.

Cal is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie, his sister Alice Hood, his son Mark (Linda) and daughter Sherrilynn (Glenn), as well as his stepdaughter Deana, affectionately known as “Nurse Rachet” while she cared for him. He is also survived by his stepson Ken and grandsons Zachary, Brian and Skylar. Cal had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his furry dog friends Lolly, Guenther and Velvet. They stayed by his side and in his lap; they were a great comfort to him.

He is preceded in death by his mother Malita Olga Sarah Grettner, his father Reed Floyd, and his sisters Doris, Millie, and Rosemary along with his brothers Floyd, Russell, and Clem.

Cal attended Ray High School and went on to serve in the Army from 1961 to 1963. He was a member of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged. Cal continued his military service in the Army reserves until 1967, when he was once again honorably discharged. After his military service, Cal pursued his passion for automobiles and owned and operated Cals Auto Sales for 45 years.

In his free time, Cal loved being outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating, and gardening. He loved to cook and was always creating new and delicious dishes. He enjoyed many years at the cabin we had on the river. He found solace and joy there.

Cal will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. May he rest in peace.
