Edelmira “Mira” Garcia, age 81, passed away on October 12, 2018. She was born on October 13, 1936 to Nieves and Concepcion Hernandez in Monterrey, Mexico. She was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She married her husband of 36 years in October of 1958. Mira was a co-founder of Mira’s Sports and More. Mira was a loving mother. Mira enjoyed participating in sports such as volleyball, dance and bowling. Mira and Manuel raised three children. They opened a business that would be named after her in 1976 that is a staple in the community today, Mira’s Sports and More. Mira was a talented seamstress. In her later years she became a member of the Guadalupanas and served as a Eucharistic Minister at SS. Cyril and Methodious Catholic Church. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and her nurturing character. Her wisdom and love will be greatly missed. Mira is preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel I. Garcia, her beloved son, Joe “Jody” Garcia, her parents, brothers, and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Sandie (Henry) Morales, son, Miguel (Terry) Garcia, grandchildren, Desiree Schmehl, Amanda (Isaac) Reyna, Joe Henry Morales, Jr., Manuel Luis “Louie” Garcia, Alejandro Garcia, and great grandson, Isaac Reyna Jr., along with many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 14th, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 15th, 2018 at SS Cyril and Methodious Catholic Church with burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
