Our beloved wife and mother, Betty Diemert, went home to be with God on June 27, 2018.
Elizabeth (Betty) Diemert was born to Haakon Hansen Ulseth and Blanche Connor Ulseth on December 2, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, New York.
Betty moved to Corpus Christ in 1946. She met Albert (Al) H. Diemert. Five months later on May 3, 1947, they were wed. They recently celebrated their 71st anniversary.
Betty worked as a telephone operator. She spent several years as a stay at home mother. She retired as a school crossing guard with CCISD.
Betty was a devout Catholic and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She and Al attended St. Pius X. They previously belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish.
Betty was a lifelong Democrat. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and feeding hummingbirds. She and Al enjoyed attending AARP Chapter 2939 meetings.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Haakon and Blanche Ulseth, her brother Daniel Ulseth, her sister Margaret (Peggy) Jellison, and infant great-grandson Connor Stephens.
She is survived by her loving husband Al Diemert and their daughters Margaret Diemert and Elizabeth Diemert both of Corpus Christi and Susan (Gary) Bruno of Lemoore, California. She is survived by five grandchildren: Katherine Anderson of Houston, Albert Anderson of Corpus Christi, Christina (Kevin) Stephenson of De Bary, FL, Jacqueline (Justin) Schell and Sara (Daryl) Brewer both of Lemoore, CA. She is also survived by nine great- grandchildren: Noe Elizondo, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Sebastian Stephens of Houston, Hannah and Jamie Stephenson of De Bary, FL, Bella Anderson of Rockport, Jaxon and Jovie Schell, Michael Bruno and Ellie Brewer all of Lemoore, CA, and one soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Piper Brewer.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at Doctor’s Regional Hospital who gave such special care to our dear Betty. They were so kind to her family as well.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2nd at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held by Father Eric Chapa at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to be pallbearers are: Albert Anderson, Noe Elizondo, Jr., Gary Bruno, Niseforo Garcia, Jr. and Joe Villanueva.
Betty asked that friends consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude’s Hospital or to any charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
