Emogene P. Davis, 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on September 4th, 2021, at Brookdale Trinity Towers. She was born September 4th,1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She went to be with The Lord on her birthday, the most wonderful present that her family could have wished for her. She was raised in Corpus Christi, graduated from Corpus Christi High School and attended Del Mar College.
She married World War II veteran, and love of her life, Owen K. Davis on October 17, 1948 and is survived by him. They enjoyed a loving and Christ centered marriage for 73 years. She was employed by CCISD for 20 years and retired from her service there in 1984. Emogene was a loving and devoted Mother to her two sons, Gary Wayne Davis of Houston, Texas and Keith Alan (Sharon) Davis of Corsicana, Texas; three grandchildren, Laura Evans, Kevin Davis and Alyssa Mathisen. Five great-grandchildren, Corinne Evans, Sydney Evans, Brayden Evans, Brantley Davis and Chase Davis.
Emogene and Owen traveled extensively in their retirement years and enjoyed doing so, from time to time, with their sons and daughter-in-laws. Emogene's devotion to her Husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was only surpassed by her devotion to The Lord. Emogene was a faithful and active member of Lindale Baptist Church and Windsor Park Baptist Church for a combined 64 years. She and Owen continued their service to The Lord at Shepherd's Way Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Armando Torralva. It is here that they met and worshiped with dear and close friends, many of whom provided support to the family in her final days. Undeniably, though working full-time, Emogene's foremost occupation was that of creating a perfect home for her Husband and her two children and in time, her grandchildren. Her commitment to improving the lives of the people she loved was absolutely her greatest accomplishment and in that, will her absence be most felt.
The Davis Family would like to thank all the caregivers at Kindred Hospice. They rushed to her aid in the darkest hours of her life and provided immediate relief to the symptoms of the illness that took her. Their continuous support to the family never wavered during the final days and the depth of our gratitude is immeasurable.
The Davis Family would also like to thank the attentive and caring staff of Brookdale Trinity Towers. The staff served a higher call than the simple custodial care they were tasked with. They treated Emogene with the utmost dignity and cared for her as if she were family. We are forever in their debt. Close family members who preceded Emogene in death were her Father, Arthur Pooley, her step-Father, Horace Gilbreth, her Mother, Laura Gilbreth and Brother, Wayne Pooley.
Funeral Services will be held at Seaside Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M. Monday, September 13th and will be officiated by Armando Torralva. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:15 P.M. A private committal service will follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
