Obituary

Ernesto V. Chapa, 88 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Bay Area Hospital. He was born on August 14, 1931 to the late Adelaido and Mariquita Chapa, in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the second of eleven brothers and sisters. He married the love of his life, Maria Antonietta on August 04, 1956. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1960. Ernesto began his career as an electrician, working many years for Western Steel Company. He had a great passion for fixing things and was a great handyman. When he was not fixing things, he was in the garden. He loved working outside and tending to his plants, trees and cactus. Ernesto was very active in the Catholic church. He was a Guadalupano for many years and served in many officer positions. He was devoted to our Blessed Mother and made many rosaries to send to our troops and missionaries. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his work ethic, and his smile.

Ernesto is survived by his 5 children: Cristina Thomas (Joseph) of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughters: Amanda of St. Petersburg, Florida and Natalie of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Rose Pool (John) of Hutto, Texas; Antoniette of Corpus Christi, Texas; Ernesto of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandson: Nelson of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Elizabeth Ramirez (John) of Corpus Christi, Texas.

All are welcome to the rosary that will be recited at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
