Everett James (Jim) Wilkerson, age 83, passed away on September 2, 2017 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Jim loved to eat, play and watch baseball, fiddle with his guitar, and spend time with family and friends.
He was born October 23, 1934 in Berlin, MD to Silas and Mildred (Parsons) Wilkerson. He grew up in Berlin and lived there until he joined the Army in 1954. He met his lovely wife, Leslie Bosselman, while completing his technical training at Fort Devans, MA. They married on October 4, 1958 and began their Army lives together serving in Okinawa, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Morocco, and finally retiring while assigned in San Antonio, TX in 1975. He returned to Iran as a civilian contractor until the Iranian revolution in 1979. Then returning to San Antonio, he worked with Southwest Research and Costa's Customs until he retired to take care of his ailing wife.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Leslie and his son Duane E. Wilkerson. He is survived by his daughter Sandra Wilkerson-Leaf and her husband Charles (Chip) Leaf of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Debra (Wilkerson) Perez and her husband Marc of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter Katrina (Wilkerson) Stachowiak and her husband John of Houston, TX; grandchildren James Dolan, Kristyn De la Paz and her husband Jason, Jason Leaf, Justin Leaf, Cole Stachowiak, Ashley Stachowiak, and Leslie Stachowiak; and great-grandchildren Montgomery Dolan and Xander de la Paz.
A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September, 13, 2017 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, in San Antonio, TX 78209, where he will be buried with his wife.
