Dr. Felito C. Gotardo, 82, and Dr. Carolina C. Gotardo, 79, of Henderson, Nevada passed away together Sunday, July 9, 2017. Felito was born March 27, 1935, in Bato, Leyte, Philippines, to Fidel Gotardo and Agatona Casinillo. Carolina was born March 7, 1938, in Kabasalan, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines, to Gregorio Cainglet and Gregoria Gotera. They met as classmates in medical school at Southwestern University, Cebu, Philippines, and married shortly after graduation in 1961. They were married for 56 years.
They had successful careers as physicians, Felito as a surgeon and Carolina as a family practitioner, in the Philippines, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago. Carolina retired prior to their migration to the United States in 1992. It was Felito’s dream to practice medicine in America, and at age 58 he started his residency in family medicine in Hershey, Pa., and completed his training in Odessa, Texas.
After retirement, he enjoyed playing poker at their community clubhouse and also became part of a bowling league. Felito and Carolina shared a passion for traveling, dancing, exercising, and visiting with family and friends.
They are survived by their five children, Janet (Raymond) Acebo, Felito (Vanessa) Gotardo Jr., Carlyn (Sahel) Rastegar, Philip Guy (Anna) Gotardo and Tricia (Jaime) Moreno; and 12 grandchildren, Caroline, Victoria, Jacob, Rita, Courtney, Raymond III (Bo), Jion, Austin, Joshua, River, Talia and Skyler. They were deeply enamored of their grandchildren, who brought them so much joy.
Although their passing was unexpected and untimely, they will always be remembered by their countless friends and family as devoted parents and an inseparable couple who lived their lives to the fullest. They will be deeply missed by so many, but there is solace knowing that they were together in passing and are no longer limited by time and space. Their tragic and sudden deaths could not separate them.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. that same day. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Seaside Memorial Park.
