Welcome to the memorial page for

Frances L. Welch

April 12, 1931 ~ October 7, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Frances Louise Wells Welch, 86, passed away on October 7, 2017. She was born on April 12, 1931, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Jake R. Wells and Bonita Joy Wells.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Kendall Welch, her brothers-in-law, Roger Broyles and Harwell McConnell, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith Price and Sheryl Mann (Doug), grandson, Michael Price (Ashley), and great grandchildren, Alyson and Bryson Price. She is also survived by her sisters, Jinger Mahan (Larry) and Sandra Broyles, brother, Jake R. Wells, Jr. (Nancy), sister-in-law, Joan Dutczak (Steve), and many nieces and nephews from Colorado to Florida and points in between.
As a Navy wife, she accepted the transitions of moving and making new friends, and made a home for her family no matter where the duty station. Frances had various jobs, including working in a school cafeteria, being a school secretary, putting her love of numbers to work in offices on Naval bases and in civilian life, and ending her work career at Standard Appliance. In retirement, she and Dean formed Welch’s Woods & Weaves, and they made some money doing things they loved-- woodworking, knitting, crocheting and anything else crafty they could come up with.
Until the morning of her stroke, Frances was active with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, enjoyed lunching with her “widows’ group,” she traveled to different places with Rockport Tours, and pursued her life-long hobby of knitting with the “K-C Group.” She was also supportive of her daughters, though not always agreeing with their choices, but we always knew where Mom stood! Her companionship will be greatly missed, as will her voice of reason, guidance and compassion.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow in Seaside Memorial Park. Donations may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army, 1802 Buford Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78404-3539.
