Gene Graham, 90, was welcomed into glory on March 19, 2023. He was surrounded by his family who adored him. He was born to Talbert Edgar Graham and Jessie Vivian McDaniel in Raymondville, Texas on January 19, 1933.
Gene graduated from Raymondville High School in 1950 and went on to receive a Civil Engineering degree from Texas A&M College in 1957.
In 1956, Gene married his love, Veda Lee Remick, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years before her passing in 2010. During their marriage, Gene and Lee raised 2 children, Gary and Gail, and God also blessed the family with a bonus son when Alex came to be part of the family at the age of 18 in 1969.
Gene received a commission to serve in the Army from Texas A&M, where he served as a tank commander rising to the rank of Captain until his honorable discharge in the 1960's.
Gene worked in south Texas for the Highway Department before moving to Corpus Christi where he joined the Heldenfels Brothers Construction Company. He later moved to north Padre Island and served as President of Padre Isles Investment Corporation as the Island was becoming a successful development. He played a major role in constructing the Padre Isles Country Club and Golf Course.
He later chose to go into business for himself and started a construction company and became a Real Estate Broker and Land Developer. He developed several subdivisions in Flour Bluff and on the south side of Corpus in the Chapman Ranch/London ISD areas.
Gene was a master story-teller and used this gift for many public speaking opportunities in business, community and church.
Although Gene was successful in his career, his main purpose in life was leading his family and others to understand the saving grace of Jesus Christ. In every aspect of his life, he made each person feel important with an authentic interest in them and engaging sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met. His integrity and generosity were ever present and his humility clearly evident to all.
His charm and love will be missed so very much, but his message that "this world is not our home" is a reminder that we who are still here, are to continue to share that message as well.
Gene is survived by his son, Gary Graham (Rachelle), daughter, Gail Blair (Howard), 7 grandchildren, Trent Pruett (Elise), Cody Blair (DeAnna), Kari Jacobs (Paul), Shari Graham, Tyler Pruett, Mari Heckroth (Keith), Grace Graham, 6 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Seaside Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78412. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
