Gloria B O'Connell

Gloria B. O’Connell passed away November 11, 2020 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born to A.R and Julia Bernal on May 10, 1941. She was a Roman Catholic who was dedicated to her faith and her parish of St. Patrick’s church where she served as a Eucharist minister.  She was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s since 1973. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel D. O’Connell Jr. and her cherished son John Paul Sykes.  

Surviving are her children Carl Sykes (Jessica), Kathryn Sykes-Witzsche (Dwayne), Ronnie Sykes (Tia), Tricia Craig (Matthew), Gloria Saucedo (Jeff) and Nathan Platz; her 11 grandchildren and 4 great-children.

Gloria had many friends, made through her nursing career and through her parish. Most cherished were the community of A.C.T.S members with whom she enjoyed working along with and sharing her time within the work of the church. 

After retiring from nursing she enjoyed volunteering at the parish food pantry, visiting the sick at the hospital, and the weekly bible class
. 
Above all she treasured and was very proud of children, grandchildren and great children. 
Gloria was a published poet and was very proud of her entry in the library of Congress. Some of her poems were written about faith and family and were printed in local periodicals. Some poems were written about special people in her life. 

Gloria’s children would like to express their sincere gratitude to Altus Hospice for all they did during her end of life’s journey.

The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday November, 19, 2020 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November 20, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
