Mrs Irene D. Gsanger

Irene Gsanger, age 81, died on Friday, January 4, 2019.

Irene will be remembered as a faithful wife, loving dedicated mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend.

Irene had a beautifully kind smile, a wickedly funny sense of humor, a huge heart, and a shining intelligence for which she will always be remembered. She always stood up against bullies, and she enjoyed reading, crafting, and a nice glass of ginger liqueur after a meal.

Irene was born in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas Duane and Marie Elaine Reilly on October 22, 1937.

She graduated from St. Brendan Diocesan High School of Brooklyn in June 1955.

Irene will be greatly missed by her 3 children, John (daughter-in-law Cecile Foy Gsanger), Bob (daughter-in-law Anna Buckingham Gsanger), and Kristen (son-in-law John Trott). She leaves behind her 6 cherished grandchildren, Reilly, Jack, Finn, Lila, Ruby and Seneca. Irene is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Duane Lashuk, Jean Duane Guarini, and sister-in-law Adrienne Duane. Irene departed with loving memories of her husband of 49 years, Donald Gsanger, who passed in 2009, and her brother, Robert Duane, who passed in 2015.

A brief Memorial Service will be held at Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Drive on Wednesday, January 9th, at 10 o’clock in the morning followed by a remembrance at Trinity Towers at 2 o’clock later that day.
