Irene Cantu Sepulveda passed away peacefully inside the home she cherished in Corpus Christi on March 12th, at the age of 94. She lived a long, fulfilling life and was survived by six of her eight children, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Born in McAllen, Texas in 1928, Irene attended high school during World War II before marrying and settling in Corpus Christi, Texas, where her husband worked and retired from NAS. A devout Catholic, Irene dedicated over 50 years to several Catholic organizations in Corpus Christi, including Schoenstatt and the Guadalupana's.
Irene's rare and unwavering personality was marked by a genuine soft-spoken kindness, a smile that shone even during difficult times, infinite optimism, and a forgiving nature. She always strived to do her best, no matter the circumstances, and was a shining example of grace and dignity.
Although Irene's passing has left a deep void in our lives, we find comfort in knowing that she has entered into eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A visitation will take place from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at the Seaside Reid Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Monday, March 20th, 2023 at 10am. Irene's interment will take place at Seaside Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
May Irene’s spirit live on and inspire us to live our lives with the same grace and dignity that she exemplified so beautifully.
