Isaac Jaime Benavides Jr., age 91, passed away June 16, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1931 to Isaac and Julia Benavides in Falfurrias, Texas. Isaac attended St. Mary’s University and A&I University in Kingsville.
He enlisted in the Marines from January 1951 through 1954. He ranked as Sargent and during his time of service he was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, Korean Service Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Jaime married his wife Estella of 63 years on July 9, 1958. He was employed at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. Jaime was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; hunting, fishing, hanging out at the ranch and spending time at the beach. He was proud and honored to serve for our country as a Marine. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jaime is preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Julia Benavides and his brother Mario Benavides.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Estella L. Benavides, brother Xavier (Yolanda) Benavides, his sister Margie (Hector) Trevino, his daughter Marina (Larry) Alley, his sons Isaac (Melanie) Benavides and J.R. (Corina) Benavides. Jaime is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Alexa, Leah, Anna-Catherine, Natalie, Joel and Joseph; and 2 great grandchildren Leaghtin and Ezra.
Visitation will begin at 8:30am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service at 9:30am. Interment will follow at 11:00am at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Joel Benavides, Joseph Benavides, Orlando Guerra, Omar Guerra, Lando Guerra and David Greathouse.
