Iva Jean Shearer

Iva (Ivy) Jean Shearer, age 87, passed away May 13, 2020. She was born September 19, 1932 to Dennis and Iva Armour in Voca, Texas. She was raised in Voca and Mason, Texas. She graduated from Mason High School and Southwest State Teachers College in San Marcos, Texas.

She married her husband of 67 years on July 22, 1952. Ivy taught high school English and physical education at Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as in a number of other schools in several states.

Ivy enjoyed participation in sports, water activities, dancing, reading, and traveling. She will always be remembered for her love of people, talent for teaching, devotion to family, compassion, generosity, intelligence, and sense of humor.

Ivy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Shearer, and their daughter, Melissa.
Ivy is survived by her son, Steve Shearer; daughter, Cindy Forbes; four grandchildren: John Jaap, Jaime Jaap, Mark Maupin, John Michael Maupin; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Jaap and Conner Jaap.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at the Voca Cemetery, in Voca, Texas.
