Obituary

Jane Zdansky Pavlicek, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away surrounded by family on September 18, 2023, at the age of 84.  Jane was a native Texan born January 19, 1939, to Kasper and Olga Zdansky in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She attended London Community Schools and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1957.  Jane married Alfred Pavlicek on February 7, 1958, and was married 56 years until his death in 2015.

Jane and Alfred established their home life on the south side of Corpus Christi.  After retirement, they pursued their dream of moving to the country and loved it.   Jane and Alfred were devout Catholics and lifetime members of the KJZT organization.

Jane cherished her life as a homemaker and took pride and joy in raising their five daughters.  She loved spending time with her family and always said that her mom, Olga, was her best friend.  They enjoyed baking kolaches and strudels and spending time together.  Zdansky family events were always celebrated together.  Weddings, anniversaries, and family reunions were often celebrated at Moravian Hall with BBQ and Czech polka bands providing many great times for the festivities.

Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred; parents, Kasper and Olga; and siblings Julius Zdansky, Helen Mikulec, Betty Konarik, and Laddie Zdansky.

Jane leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Diane (James Ballowe) of Spring; Linda Lake of Melissa; Gayle (David Owen) of Frisco; Maretta Rabe of San Antonio; and Janel Pavlicek (Melissa) of Georgetown. Grandchildren, Caitlin, Cara, and Cameron Lake; Megan (Drew Mitchell), (great-grandchildren Madelyn, Wesley, Wyatt, and Parker); Ryan Rabe, (great-grandchild Everleigh); and Nathan Rabe (Abbi); Conner and Kendall Ballowe; sister, Mary Zarosky, brother George Zdansky (Andrea) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved Chihuahua, Cuddles.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and numerous caregivers at Grand Brook in Allen, Texas, for their kindness, dedication, and care.  Jane endured a courageous battle with Dementia.

A private ceremony will be held per Jane’s wishes. We appreciate the loving support of Jane’s family and friends throughout her beautiful life.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate.
