Janis Ann Stutler Wendel, age 86, passed away on August 6th, 2019 in Fort Worth, TX. She was born on August 22nd, 1932 to A.C. Stutler Sr. and Stella Stutler in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was raised in Kilgore, TX and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1951. She attended Kilgore Jr. College and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1955 with a Bachelor’s in Library Science.
From there she became a librarian in Gladewater, TX and then moved to Corpus Christi where she married Bernard Wendel on December 26th, 1964. She was a librarian at Roy Miller High School before becoming a librarian and teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School where she worked for more than 12 years before retiring.
She was a loving mother and wife and is survived by her husband of 54 years: Bernard Wendel; her daughter: Rebecca Wendel; her son: Chris (Terrie) Wendel and their children: Drew and Emma and her daughter: Diana (Jerry) Schroy and their children: Cas, Ally, and Hanna. She is also survived by her sister: Sue Medders; her brother: A.C. (Martha) Stutler Jr and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: A.C. Stutler Sr. and Stella Stutler; her brothers: Charley and Jack Stutler and her sister: Luenelle Stutler.
The Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 10th, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The graveside ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Seaside Memorial Park.
