Obituary

Dr. Jayachand Pallekonda, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

He was born on January 16, 1941, to Pallekonda Satyanandam and Tanikonda Sowbhagyam in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, India. He was raised in Chilakaluripet.

He graduated from Osmania University in 1975 where he attained his B. Com, LL. B., and LL.M in Advanced Accounting, Auditing, and Labor Law. He then attained his B.S. in Medical Records Administration from St. Louis University in 1979 and finally his Ph.D in Business Administration from Stamford University in Alabama.

He has held many positions of leadership starting with being President of the Student Union at Viveka Vardhini College. He has also been the president of the Kalasampath Lions Club, Federation of Indian American Christians of North America, and the Federation of Indo-American Christians of Greater Chicago.

He is a life member of both the American Telugu Association and the Telugu Association of North America. He has also been a member of the American Health Information Management Association and Gideons International. He worked at Incarnate Word Hospital (St. Louis), was the Assistant Director of the Medical Records Department at Grady Memorial Hospital (Atlanta), and Director of Medical Records at the Lakeside VA Medical Center (Chicago).

He married his wife, Dayamani, of 54 years on January 9, 1964. He was a deeply loving and dedicated father to his 4 children and doting grandfather to his 11 grandchildren.
He will always be remembered for his servant heart and willingness to help anyone in need at any time, his desire to cook for and feed all who ever entered his home, and for his constant devotion to his family.

He is preceded in death by his ever loving wife, Dayamani, his sister (Nanda Kumari Katta), and his parents.

He is survived by his four children: Vijay, Lavanya, Vinay, and Vinod, daughters in law: Angie, Cathy, and Sue, son in law: Suresh Koneswaran, and 11 grandchildren: Anand, Viraj, Chandrika, Apsara, Jayachand, Gabriel, Elijah, Caleb, Yasmine, Daniel, and Benjamin.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Seaside Chapel. Burial to follow at 10 AM at Seaside Memorial Park.
