Obituary
Jean Love Pittman died in faith on June 27, 2018, at the age of 96 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Love and Winnie Love, her brother R.A. Love, sister Margaret Murray, and her husband of 49 years, Billie C. Pittman. She is survived by her three children, Richard (Joyce), Phyllis Jean, and Deborah Smith (Greg). She was blessed by her grandchildren, Blaire, Grant, Mathew and Catherine; great grandchildren, Charles and Margot; and a host of loving friends.
Jean was a woman of substance and service and was a life-long Baptist. Early in her children’s youth, she made sure they attended Sunday School and church. In her later years, she was the matriarch of Travis Baptist Church. Her entire life, she was a lady of exquisite style and taste, a gracious hostess on all occasions. A talented party planner replete with décor and delicious food for every holiday, her home was always open to share with family, friends and neighbors.
Jean was a leader all her life. Her faith in God and the power of prayer were her real strengths. When she said it was going to be okay, that was all one needed to hear. And it was. Eleven years ago, she wrote, “When I get out of bed, I can choose to make it a good day or a bad day. I choose a good day with a smile and laughter. I am now 85 and I do feel that life has been good to me and I am so grateful.”
Jean’s family desires to acknowledge with thanks her compassionate caregivers, Yvette, Heather and Judith.
Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 30th of June 2018, at Travis Baptist Church, 5802 Weber Road, Corpus Christi, Texas. Immediately following at eleven o’clock that morning, a service will be held at Travis Baptist.
A reception will follow in the church parlor. For those desiring to send floral tributes, these may be received on Friday morning from 9:00am to 1:00pm and Saturday morning from 8:00am to 9:30am at the church.
